Our Story

Twenty years, one address.

If you stayed with us when we were called the Ambassador, welcome back. If this is your first visit, here is the story of this address.

The Ambassador years

For most of those twenty years this building welcomed travellers as the Ambassador Hotel: a boutique address one minute from Hagia Sophia, known for its terrace and for remembering guests by name.

2020, a new name

We became Lapis Inn Hotel & Spa, named after the deep blue stone. The name changed. The street, the view and the standard of welcome did not.

Today

A rooftop over the Old City, a marble hamam below it and a room for every kind of stay. Every guest becomes part of the story this address has been writing for twenty years.

The Lapis Inn standard

Service that knows the neighbourhood.

Our team works this neighbourhood daily: which tram door puts you closest to the exit, which lokanta locals actually choose, what time Hagia Sophia's queue disappears. Ask reception anything; that knowledge is part of the service, and the part our guestswrite about most.

It is also why The Sultanahmet Guide is written in-house, rather than borrowed from someone else's list.
